1381068 2014-08-07 03:27:00 Pay pal is really winding me up today, wondered if anyone else finds it hard to use. I've had an account for a long time but barely ever used it.
Today I tried to buy something from Samsung's E-store and paypal is the only payment option so I was forced to, and then the fun starts...

First I try to use the pay by credit card as a guest option - sorry no can do, your e-mail or credit card is registered wih pay pal, please log in :angry

so I try to log in, manage to remember my password... sorry we don't recognise this device, please verify - only method is via text, only number option is my home phone... :angry:angry

So I log onto paypal directly and add my cellphone so it can txt me for verification - that breaks paypal completely and now it just says "we can't process you payment at this time" after several attempts and 2 different cell phone numbers I give up and remove it, and now we are back to verifying by txting a landline.... :badpc::badpc:

In the end the only solution I could find was to remove my credit card from my paypal account, and use the guest option with a different E-mail address. I sent them a very grumpy message - only to get a generic response with standard help for unrelated issues...

I think I may delete my paypal account.

1381069 2014-08-07 03:31:00 Pay Pal is a breeze to use :)

There are several PP scams doing the rounds at the moment.

"Dear XXX,
Thank you for reporting this fake website. We continuously work to
disable these websites and review all submissions sent to
spoof@paypal.com, and our fraud teams work to identify and prevent fraud
before it occurs. We urge you to always contact us if you have any
questions about your PayPal account.
Fake websites encourage you to enter personal information like credit
card numbers, Social Security numbers, and account passwords.
If you've entered any financial or other personal information on a fake
website:
Change your PayPal password and security questions immediately.
Contact your bank or the company that issued the credit card or debit
card on your PayPal account and tell them about the situation.
Review your PayPal transaction history to make sure there are no
unauthorized transactions for your account.
We've put together some tips to help protect your PayPal account from
Unauthorized Account Access:
Always log in to the PayPal site
PayPal will only ask for information after you have securely logged
in.
For your security, PayPal will never ask you to re-enter your full
bank account, credit, or debit card number without providing you at
least the last two digits of the number. These digits let you know that
we already know the full number and are asking you for the rest of it.
Beware of any website or email asking for these numbers for
"verification" that does not provide the last two digits.
Web pages - make sure that they are hosted by PayPal
1. When using the PayPal service, always make sure the PayPal URL
address listed at the top of the browser begins with "https." The "s"
ensures that the website is secure. Even if the URL contains the word
"PayPal," it may not be a PayPal webpage.
2. Look for the "lock" symbol that appears in the lower right hand
corner of the browser. This symbol indicates that you are on a secure
site.
Do not download attachments, software updates, or any application to
your computer via a link you received in an email. PayPal will not ask
you to download anything for your account to work.
Password - keep it on PayPal
1. Use a unique password for your PayPal account and change it every
30-60 days.
2. The password should be one that is not used on any other site,
service, or login.

Working Group (APWG).

1381070 2014-08-07 03:55:00 I disagree, it's not a breeze to use at all. I'm sure it is when everything goes right but that's not my experience today. It will not accept a telecom NZ Cellphone number and only offers sending a txt to verify my account and no other options, the security center link on the paypal website goes to a "this page does not exist" error.

It's not a scam, went directly to www.paypal.com to change the phone number and was using samsung.com to get to the samsung e-store - all legit, and all failed to work.

The main problem is paypal doesn't recognise any of the devices I'm trying to use and wants to verify them (good on them to be security conscious) and the only option it offers for verification is send a txt to a number that can't receive them.

1381071 2014-08-07 04:01:00 If you go to the Samsung NZ store when you get to the checkout you can change it to credit or debit card. Just tried it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1381072 2014-08-07 04:16:00 Not that I could see, only payment option was paypal. Yes you can use a credit card or debit card via paypal - but not if they are already registered with them because then you have to log in.

I did get it to work, but as I said only by un-registering my credit card so they would let me use it manually.

1381073 2014-08-07 04:18:00 I've never had any problem with PP, in fact it seems to go more smoothly now than it used to. Used it just 3 days ago to get the paid version of Malwarebytes. Transaction went smoothly from the MB site to Paypal, paid via credit card for which Paypal have the details and bingo, payment made. Terry Porritt (14)

1381075 2014-08-07 04:28:00 I do have a PP acct but the debit card isnt in and and there's nothing in it. Cant be bothered putting anything in it.

Thats probably why it worked. The only thing that did have my debit card on it was when I renewed the Xbox live sub. But I have now deleted the card since the sub has expired

If I pay for anything online I just fill in the details for the debit card

Nah, it's Telecom that they're leery of (multiple name changes, frequent convictions for dishonesty, etc etc.) Would you trust them ? ;)
