403423 2005-11-11 04:12:00 Using Windows XP and Nero DVD Burner software I want to put music to my slide shows. Windows Media Player seems to have vanished off my system although the icon is still there.
Anybody know of any software, preferably free, that will copy music off my CD's for using as background music on my slide shows. I have a large collection of CD's, mostly classical and I have paid for them so I presume there will be no copyright infringement where I use them for my own enjoyment.

403424 2005-11-11 04:56:00 There are plenty - I use Quintessential Player from here:

http://www.quinnware.com/

I also use ProShow Gold to make/burn my shows, including recording music digitally of my cds - but there is a cost for that program. :)

Cheers

Went to this site and found it is not free. The trial version is free.
Thanks all the same.

Thanks R.M. Seems to do the job but now got to figure out how to put the tracks into my slide show.

403429 2005-11-12 03:49:00 Heaton - go to the blue button at the bottom of the window on the right, click and it will give you the option to "Browse for Media", that then gives you two options, one of which is "Browse and add to Project" - then voila, there you are!

Sorry I must be thick. What programme are you in when you say go to the blue button ? I am in Nero Vision Express 2 and the blue button directs me to track properties. Where do I go from there ? Thanks for help.......Heaton

403431 2005-11-12 07:25:00 Sorry - Nero Vision Express 3 ( I think it is the same in Vision Express 2) - you have your slides in the slide show content (along the bottom). There are two windows above (left is the Vision Express window that shows progess of the program as it is being played). On the right is the other window I am talking about - on the right is a button (and hovering over it says "Add to project" - on the left is the blue button I mentioned before. If this is all wrong for Nero Vision Express 2, then I'm sorry I've led you astray. I think you can download Nero Vision Express 3 from the Nero site - I did a few months ago. Hope that helps.

PS I found ProShow Gold a lot easier to work with - although I had to pay ?$NZ90.00 for it. Earlier this year I made a 90 minute DVD slide show with menus, appropriate music etc with ProShow Gold. It was a lot easier to work with (but perhaps I got to grips with it better!)

Good luck - stick with it!

I'll be around again tomorrow afternoon.

403432 2005-11-12 22:22:00 Thanks RM. When I got to the stage where I add the music up came a message saying it could not add the music. No reason given or no explanation. I managed to get back Windows Media Player which was lurking in my computer hidden and messing about in that I discovered you could download for free PHOTO STORY 3 by Microsoft. So I had a look at this and it has some very good features such as importing up to 300 pix and be able to sort them. When I came to add music up came the message that it could not put the music in, but this message EXPLANED the REASON that the bit of music was copyrighted and that I would have to remove this. Hav'nt got time today to go into all this but it sure looks promising and yes I intend to stick with it.
Cheers.........Heaton
