| 403433 | 2005-11-11 02:03:00 | I have been connecting my Sony Handycam (Digital) to the Firewire port on the front of my PC for a couple of years now without any problems. Then the other day when after connectiong it again in the usual manner it wouldn't show up in Explorer or My Computer. I am running XP Pro, SP2 and all the latest Microsoft updates etc. The Motherboard is a ECS Elite 865 PE with a VIA OHCI compliant IEEE controller. Device manager shows it to be working okay. As a check I then added a PCI multi USB/Firewire card (Texas Instruments) - the Handycam works perfectly on this. To check the Firewire cable I then plugged the Handycam into my Laptop (same operating system) and it also worked fine. By process of elimination it seems that the front Firewire connection wont pick up the Handycan any longer. ( I have also checked that the internal cable from the front panel to the MB is secure). I have tried hot booting, cold booting, uninstalling/reinstalling the controller and every possible combination but its just not seen any longer. Device Manager is clean all the way through. Unfortunately its the only Firewire device I have so haven't been able to check something else through the same connection but assume if Device Manager shows it to be clean its not the problem. The PCI Firewire connection is difficult to access hence why I want to be able to use the front one. Can anyone make some suggestions what to try next? Thanks Sergio |

Whats it on? Obtain an ip automatically, or have u entered an ip address in manually? If there's an ip address here, delete it . And change it to obtain an ip address . |

Both are set identically being that no IP address shows and both are set to obtain IP automatically. Both 1394 adapters are reported as working properly. I'm going to run Sisoft Sandra to see if this will pick anything up. - Sergio | Sergio (928) | ||
