403959 2005-11-15 09:30:00 The PC does not have the problem only the user. Spend time focusing on the user(s) as the PC does not care less. very nicly said :)

No Rule one is Don't fix it if it isn't broken the problem with pc's is that the pc can be majorly faulty and still run fine. pc's are like an old car, only a little bit of rust showing but dig out the rust and you will find more rust, soon you find its completely rusted out and is not useable.

403960 2005-11-15 09:38:00 pc's are like an old carNever seen a PC yet that could take a decent kick from a steel-capped boot and go even better than before the boot :badpc:

Just don't make em like they used to :(

403961 2005-11-15 12:22:00 When taking a sip of a fresh cup of coffee, if it burns your lip try not to drop it on your keyboard. It will not only damage the keyboard but the resulting splashes will also burn your legs :angry Rob99 (151)

What do you learn from fixing something that isn't broken? You learn by troubleshooting the fault. If it hasn't got one what have you learnt?

403963 2005-11-15 19:35:00 The way to learn is by creating a problem to fix :p Greven (91)
403964 2005-11-15 20:34:00 A site has gone down, or you want to look at an older version of a website? try www.archive.org - Microsoft's website 1996 is pretty funny actually.

http://archive.bibalex.org can be used as a mirror if the other site is slow.

403965 2005-11-15 21:07:00 What do you learn from fixing something that isn't broken? You learn by troubleshooting the fault. If it hasn't got one what have you learnt?Well each to there own ways of learning. What you say about trouble shooting the fault is how i learn with other peoples toys, but i learn much more by experermenting and/or trying to change things on my own toys. An example was when i played with the apache .conf file on a webserver i was running from home a few years back. When i restarted the service so it loaded of the modified version, it refused to start at all. Worse still i hadn't backed up the original or working .conf file, so there was a HUGE amount of learning done that night. D'oh  :groan: :p personthingy (1670)
403966 2005-11-15 21:40:00 If you want to learn about comps fiddle with them I reckon. Even a comp which appears to be running fine still needs regular updates, scans and maintenance. These don't always go smoothly so there's learning there.

You can use a comp as an end user and never do anything and the machine will seem to running fine.

You will end up with a creaky unstable slow machine.
