The number of home PCs that I fix with an expired trial of Nortons & virii running rampant... |

| 403911 | 2005-11-12 19:54:00 | Have a CDROM that keeps auto playing whenever you start it up? Press and hold the Shift key as you place it in the drive to temporarily stop it. (Those disability programs may pop up when the shift button is held or tapped more than ten times in 2000/XP, so turn em off before using the disable autoplay technique) |

| 403915 | 2005-11-12 20:28:00 | keyboards are always usefull, the key press I find is not widly known is the "alt + enter combination", when pressed at the same will simulate a right mouse click and ctrl + esc instead of the windows key. Joe also there is anohter way to soft reboot but this only refreshes registry values (in xp, different but also can be done in 98, me, 2000) TRY AT YOUR RISK bring up task manager find and shut down explorer task ctrl alt delete bring up task manager new task explorer I use it when explorer freezes on me normally you dont loose any running applications and data contained within |

| 403917 | 2005-11-12 20:33:00 | yahoo and hotmail make for good "throwaway" email addresses (not your isp one) Most ISPs offer around 5 POP accounts per net connection - for family members and junk accounts - because it is POP you can use your normal mailer. Mozilla thunderbird is also good at picking up spam :) Gmail is also good, you never need to delete anything and the labelling features are very powerfull. Dunno what the rules on these forums are about giving out invites but if they are allowed I have a few, if not I'll have to edit post :| |
