403374 2005-11-11 04:10:00 I am using Windows Xp SP2. Upon shutting down it gets stuck at the screen displaying the following message "Windows is shutting down" and does nothing.

I have to turn off the computer by unplugging it off the mains.

Can anyone help me out with this strange problem.

Cheers.

Welcome to PF1, imbhatnagar. When did the symptoms start to appear? Did you install any programs recently? Can you turn off your computer by pressing some kind of switch instead of manually turning it off via the mains? Have you done any recent AV, Anti-spyware etc. scan recently?

Cheers :)
