404275 2005-11-14 02:41:00 Hi all

In regards to the speed of SD cards - does it really make a lot of difference to performance for your average point and shoot holiday snap person?

I see they have normal SD cards, fast, superfast, 60x, 133x etc etc etc.

I don't need anything over the top - just for a 60+ father in law who is making his first foray into digital photography (most probably with a Canon Powershot A520).

Cheers.

404276 2005-11-14 03:16:00 The Canon 520 doesn't benefit from faster than average SD cards. Unless you use a card reader or will use the card in other cameras, just buy on size and price. PaulD (232)
404277 2005-11-14 22:31:00 I would get std speed. I will stick with Lexar or Sandisk.

If you got a fast cam like a top end digicam or entry level SLR get the 66x speeds or 40x. If you got a pro SLR for journalists and sports photog then the 133x is ideal if you gonna wack out 5 frames a sec a lot of the times.
