404692 2005-11-16 01:18:00 Hi

How do I stop a Windows xp SP2 machine from automatically going onto the logon screen after a period of idleness?

Thanks

404693 2005-11-16 01:30:00 Right-click on the desktop and go to Properties then Screen Saver tab.
Untick the box that says 'On resume, password protect'

404694 2005-11-17 21:56:00 That has been done but it does it automatically. I don't even think it goes into a screensaver. music_man (5482)
404695 2005-11-17 22:04:00 Try this...

Right click desktop> Properties> Screensaver> Power> Advanced tab> Untick "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby".

404696 2005-11-17 22:11:00 That isn't ticked either. Hm music_man (5482)
404697 2005-11-17 22:18:00 Do you have a third party screen saver installed that could affect it? Nyuuji (5460)
404698 2005-11-17 22:29:00 Nope. It just does it. I do have tweakui installed but I don't think that does anything. Or does it... music_man (5482)
404699 2005-11-17 22:33:00 I don't use TweakUI, so I cant say. But it wont hurt to open up tweakui and have a look around for settings that affect screensaver/logon. Nyuuji (5460)
404700 2005-11-20 19:23:00 It doesn't by the look of it and it is getting annoying. Any more ideas? music_man (5482)
404701 2005-11-20 20:11:00 try doing this, Right click desktop>Properties>screensaver tab> where it says:
Wait xx Minutes, next to it, it should say: On resume, display welcome screen.
Untick
