405877 2005-11-20 20:49:00 I have a Maxtor HD that has previously been used as a Master and I want to use it as a Secondary HD.

The pins on the back are in 2 rows, a total of 9 pins. Viewing them I count 123(4missing)5 on top left to right, and on the bottom 6 to 10 left to right.

The jumpers fitted as Master connected 1 & 6 (left hand end) and 2 & 3.

Having removed both jumpers, it is not being recognised.

Maxtors site suggested slaves should have no jumpers at all, but then there was no reference to a jumper between 2 & 3 on any Master.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards

405878 2005-11-20 20:59:00 Because Maxtor have different jumper configurations, I went to Maxtors site, and went searching for jumper settings

Choose the model harddrive you have (will be on a label on the harddrive)
Then select installation>jumper settings

All going well you will get a popup with the settings you require :)

Edit, or it can be listed under technical information on some listings
