406148 2005-11-22 08:17:00 Firewire drivers are bundled in the OS, the same way that USB is. Metla (12)
406149 2005-11-22 08:24:00 OK then. That makes a diff :D Speedy Gonzales (78)
406150 2005-11-22 09:10:00 Fraid I rarely stray into the Via side of things unless I can't avoid it, I have a penchant for all things nForce.....

True. Via sucks.

406152 2005-11-22 10:03:00 What do you guys think of the ATI mbs?

:)

406153 2005-11-22 10:09:00 You mean motherboards using the ATI chipset?

Last time I looked into it they were lagging well behind the nForce4 in performance, I built a couple of machines based on them due to the quite good intergrated video but they not something I would use in conjucton with high performance parts.

Having said that, There have been new boards released since I looked into it, Pretty sure most of them aren't readily available in NZ.

When they or if they start making a bigger splash on overseas sites I may look at them again.

406154 2005-11-22 10:53:00 Cool thanks for the info then.

So for AMD boards what would the ranking be:

1.NFORCE?
2.VIA?
3.ATI?
4.SIS?

And for the intel boards the ranking would be:

1.Intel?
2.Nforce?
3.Ati?
4.Sis?

:)

406155 2005-11-22 20:13:00 AMD

Nforce better then everything else, So why not just get the better choice?

Intel .

Amd are better, so why get second best?
