Get a P4, (478 or 775 pin), or get an AMD that uses DDR ram . And a mobo that has USB 2 onboard . Most mobos these days, are the same size, unless its a shuttle . And will fit in any case . |

I have 4 USB 2 . 0 ports, and that's the motherboard i have running, not the one I want, anuyhow thanks for telling me that any motherboard will fit! Does this motherboard suck though? |

| 406785 | 2005-11-23 07:59:00 | Yup, well the one u have atm, isn't the best . But to get a P4, or AMD system you'll have to replace everything including the ram and CPU . But you can re-use the hdd/floppy (if u use one), and cd/ burner / cd / dvd . As neither will work on an AMD or P4 478 pin system, since they use DDR ram . The only P4 478 pin mobo I know of, that uses SD ram, at the mo, is the ASUS P4B . More recent mobos dont have ISA onboard, and either have onboard video, or an AGP port, and 5 PCI slots . And support up to 3-4 gb of ram . |

You may be able to cram a full ATX board in there but most likely the Optical drives will want to occupy the same space as the CUP heatsink and fan, Or its quite likely that an ATX board will be 3 inches too long to be installed. Also, You PSU doesn't have a hope in hell of running new gear. Just to repeat the advice you have been given across numerous threads, Upgrading from that starting point isn't going to be worthwhile, Replace the case, Mobo, CPU, Ram and carry over the optical drive and modem if you so wish. I would suggest (Without meaning to offend) that you aproach a retailer and query the price of an upgrade box, already assembled and waiting for the gear your going to carry over. |

| 406787 | 2005-11-24 03:35:00 | Thanks Metla, but am going to buy pc parts from overseas, so therefore can't buy a case and bring it here and the cases I want cost too much here, so just want to reuse the one I have. Anyhow, can 2 pcs run using one monitor without me switching the plugs everytime? Thanks for the help! | zahmad (8963) | ||
| 406788 | 2005-11-24 03:53:00 | Me thinks your digging yourself a large hole, which well be accompanied with multiple threads where you consistantly ask the same question over and over and over untill you get the answer you wanted..... Think Im just going to go back to my prior stance of ignoring your pleas for information, Its wasted on you. |
