| 406719 | 2005-11-22 23:26:00 | Got a problem with someones wireless network using boradband, everything was going fine, then all of a sudden the internet would not work on one of the machines. The machine that has the modem attached no problems it connects to the internet just fine, the other machine just won't connect. It sees the other computer and we can access/share files etc but it won't connect to the internet. I have tried the Winsock fix, I have ran Adaware, Spybot, CCleaner, CWShredder, AVG, Norton AV, to name a few but I still can't get the internet connection to work, I have checked the settings on the security on IE and all are set to default, I have checked the Connection on IE and that is set to LAN, Automatically detect. I have tried Firefox just in case it was a prob with IE but still no joy. Anyone know 1. Why it was working fine then all of a sudden not working 2. Any ideas about fixing it. :help: Cheers |

| 406720 | 2005-11-22 23:34:00 | What firewall is installed? Norton Internet Security, is known to shut off Symantec proxy service . When this happens anything connected to that PC, will lose net access . Until the service is restarted . |

| 406723 | 2005-11-22 23:43:00 | Control panel / admin tools / services . Scroll down to Symantec proxy service . Double click on it, down the bottom, where it says service status - if it says started, thats fine . If it says stopped, that maybe why noone else gets net access . Click on start to restart it . Then to make sure it keeps on going, click on the recovery tab, and change Take no action to restart the service on 1st/2nd/subsequent failure . Then click on OK . This is for XP . And if Internet Security is installed . |
