406684 2005-11-22 21:50:00 Yes, OK. Thanks. Another way is Start > Accessories > Command Prompt.
(decided to Google it :o )

But I am having problems deleting the folder.
Please can someone have a look here:

...and tell me what I am doing wrong?

The yellow box above the Command Prompt are the directions taken from a tech web page. FYI, ~ERAFSWD.TMP is a folder left over from an Eraser program.

406685 2005-11-22 21:56:00 C:\Documents and Settings\S>dir

Can you see the file?? If it is on C: do this

C:\Documents and Settings\S>cd..
C:\Documents and Settings>cd..
C:\>del ~erafswd.tmp

You could also try:

C:\>rmdir c:\~erafswd.tmp /s

406686 2005-11-22 22:54:00 Thanks Rob. Its weird, but the folder did not show up even though I can find it using Start > Run.

Here are the results from your instructions:

406687 2005-11-22 23:45:00 XP only has a DOS emulator running under Windows XP.

You ability to do anything with a folder will be no better in the XP DOS prompt "mode" than under Windows Explorer.

And you omitted the ".." after cd. (That takes you back to the parent directory)

The command as given to you was "cd.." above. (omit the quotes)

406688 2005-11-22 23:47:00 Can you see the folder in Explorer. Is the folder\file in the root C:\ or in C:\Documents and Settings\S

The cd command is change directory the two dots are important if you want to jump out of a directory cd..{cddotdot}

406689 2005-11-22 23:50:00 You ability to do anything with a folder will be no better in the XP DOS prompt "mode" than under Windows Explorer. This is mostly true, I'm just waiting to see if it works first before I give instructions to shut down explorer. Rob99 (151)
406690 2005-11-23 00:03:00 Can you see the folder in Explorer. Is the folder\file in the root

Yep, the folder is in the root C:\
Cannot use Explorer for C:\ because it is corrupted due to an error I made while erasing (file structure). I had a thread on this a few months back...

Anyway, this did work:
You could also try:
C:\>rmdir c:\~erafswd.tmp /s

Thanks Rob and Godfather.

Nice to learn a few things here on PF1.
