| 407459 | 2005-11-25 06:52:00 | I have compiled a DVD ( using Pinnacle studio 9.4) and cannot produce a finnished DVD that isn't Pixely and stop/starts when played on a stand alone DVD player. When I view the encoded compilation using the Studio 9.4 on the PC it is faultless/perfect. Once writen to disc its pixely at times and at different stages stalls for a while before continuing. I am using a Sony DRU 700A writer and Imation 4.7gb DVD-R discs. I have tried every possible setting/speed in the Studio writing program to correct the problem with no success. Is the problem because of the encoding process or the writing to the disc. Any advice /help would be appreciated, cheers Phil. |

Drop the speed down as low as possible and try burning again at the highest quality avaliable- the lower the speed, the better off you will be- and set it so that it Verifies the disc when complete so you know it has burn't 100% properly |

Bear in mind if it is first, second or third generation made players (players made between 1997-2001/2) do not read DVD-R and RW as the DVD R and RW discs have a slightly smaller diameter than the standard DVD and the reading laser has difficulty reading the data on the disc. I might also look at your writing speed as that also influences the performance of the disc. These two suggestions are fairly basic but you should consider them. |

Turns out it was just the .avi file on there. You _must_ burn the disc with the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and all the .vob files in the VIDEO_TS folder. They must be mpeg2 with a few other criteria... Then you need to burn the DVD Disc as a _DVD Video_ and not as a Data Disc (Different filesystems). What files are you burning to the DVD (The names, we want the names). DVD-R discs seem to have more luck with DVD players, but + are working on more standalone players all the time. Burning at a slower speed is advisable for a more "stable" burn, but just because your DVD Writer can confirm & re-read the disc doesnt mean that the standalone player can by any stretch of the imagination! Chill. |

When I first tried converting avi or mpeg files to a DVD/VOB disk, it did not work. I use DVD Shrink ;) with no problems, but DVD Shrink does it all automatically. Chill, is there any chance that you can give us some screen shots of the files as they should be, or direct us to a web page that explains things very clearly for those of us who find this difficult to understand? Thanks. |

Since you wont see some options / or some options are disabled, in Nero and Nerovision, until you buy certain plugins / enter the serial number/s in, for the plugin/s . Nerovision will load whatever format the video file is in . Just load whatever file, edit / add titles, then burn it . And yup, you're right . My dearer dvd player, which is multizone, didn't play + or -! But the cheaper one does . It doesn't matter what kind of blank dvd, I burn to . It'll play + or - . |
