407675 2005-11-26 08:35:00 I would try the hdd in another system first.

See if the hdd is the prob first. Otherwise you'll be wasting money, if the new hdd crashes as well.

407676 2005-11-26 08:37:00 If you have only the following connected, what happens:

CPU/mobo/PSU/RAM/keyboard/onboard graphics

obviously you will get a no os/drive error, but what else... does it still shut off, or not?

407678 2005-11-26 09:31:00 New HDD = Still no work, so i must either be the PSU or the Mobo. Am getting a new PSU on monday, so will give that a shot, hopefully it is that, as i get it for free, otherwise i might need to buy a new mobo.

407679 2005-11-26 09:59:00 In the meantime, try my suggestion...
If it still reboots, I would be highly suspicious of the mobo

You havent got any weird settings enabled in thew BIOS have you?

That's what I'd think...Perhaps it's been BIOS flashed in the past and got messed up.

407681 2005-11-27 03:56:00 I love these threads could be . . . . could be . . . .

Eliminate the software/viruses and spyware with a fresh reinstall (never hurts once in a while anyway) .

On the hardware side of things check fans and leave side of case to eliminate heat .

After that, it may be the PSU,RAM,MB,CPU,even video card, ALL can cause resetting and the only way to narrow it down is with "Logical process of elimination", with the replacement of each item one at a time and testing to see if it still occurs .

As for things like bios, if it wasn't resting in the past flashing the bios now probably isn't going to help unless you have added hardware recently etc .

If you don't have replacement parts to eliminate you need a Tech .
