407655 2005-11-26 00:45:00 Well, you shouldnt need the floppy, since both 2k and XP cd's are bootable.

I take it, you've changed the bootdisk to the cd, and booted from it as well?

Try changing the IDE cables, if you've got some spare ones around.

Maybe the IDE cables are around the wrong way? Does the BIOS actually detect the hdd and the cd/dvd, whatever it is.

407656 2005-11-26 00:47:00 I hav booted from CD (Thats how i tried to install windows), and booted from a floppy to upgrade the bios. The BIOS see's the HDD and the CDrom fine, and so does DOS, and the windows setup.

I think im going to try my DVD rom again (which i no works) because the one thats in it at the moment doesnt work in my computer (It crashes on startup)

407657 2005-11-26 00:57:00 Definately sounds like the PSU/Motherboard or Overheating. that what the problem usually is for me when i get random restarts. Dannz (1668)
407658 2005-11-26 01:17:00 Yea, i dont think its over heating though.

One thing i did notice is that in the BIOS you can set the CPU speed, and every 3 or 4 boots it asks me to do that because it crashed due to a CPU error....but i have tested the CPU in my machine im using now, and it went fine, and i tested my 1ghz cpu in it, and it did exactly the same.

407659 2005-11-26 01:21:00 Have u tried resetting the BIOS settings to their default settings?

Try the default settings and re-configure the BIOS.

This is, if you didnt do this, after u flashed the BIOS.

407660 2005-11-26 01:22:00 I think i did it, i press the restore factory settings in the BIOS once i had flashed it, and i cant work out what switch is the BIOS reset one on the mobo.

407661 2005-11-26 01:24:00 The reset to default settings or similar should be an option in the BIOS itself. Speedy Gonzales (78)
407662 2005-11-26 01:25:00 Yea, thats where i did it.
