407074 2005-11-24 23:33:00 So for your example, is the filename definitely "CBS emails.doc" ? wuppo (41)

You replaced the existing name with just "doc"?

Can't do that, the filename has to be filename.doc (substitute your choice of filename for filename of course. ;))

407076 2005-11-25 02:33:00 in other words, if your original file is called 'stumped.doc' - rename it as 'stumped again.doc' - don't forget the .doc. another example is 'cash.xls' - rename as 'cash 05.xls' - this sort of thing goes way back - i use to teach this to 5 yr olds heheh, but most adults get it wrong. quarry (252)
407077 2005-11-25 02:51:00 Wup Fox and qua,you have brought a smile to my face,it works.Thanks ;)

While we are at it,what exactly is a file extension?
Cicero (40)
407078 2005-11-25 03:22:00 The file extention is the .exe or .doc part of the file name, it helps the operating system chose a program to open the file with.

.html should open in your web browser
.doc should open in Microsoft Word
.txt should open with Notepad
.gif and .jpg should open with your image viewer

etc etc
