407350 2005-11-25 06:36:00 Hey Guys. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this wireless PCI card (c1com.co.nz). Is it any good, relaible, easy to install, etc?

Also will it be compatible with a d-link router, or will there be complications because they are different brands.

Also is this the right kind of ethernet cable for connecting an xbox/pc to a router (www.cablesdirect.co.nz)

Thanks in advance

407351 2005-11-25 06:44:00 Useless. Absoloutley Useless- I find the DSE ones the best to use- the software can be a bit complicated at first, but you can't really complain considering I was able to go to my next door mates and still get 4 star reception
Check it out:

This should be compatible with your router as well

And yes, it is compatible with the xbox.

407352 2005-11-25 07:00:00 Thanks very much, just saved me a bit of money. I think I might go with this one; it's slightly cheaper and is the same make as the router (c1com.co.nz) Herbie_Dog (9286)
407353 2005-11-25 07:14:00 Now there you have yourself an excellent card maverickoc (7240)
407354 2005-11-25 07:27:00 You can also use USB 2 wireless adapters as well.

If you dont have spare PCI slots, or dont want to open the case.

I use USB 2 here. It's just as good as PCI.

407355 2005-11-25 07:36:00 i've wondered about them- do u know anything about the PCMCIA cards as well? How much more expensive are the usb2 ones? maverickoc (7240)
407356 2005-11-25 08:49:00 Here's a list ( . edencomputers . co . nz/c . aspx?r=38681 . 9056225&c=Networking&s=Wireless+Lan" target="_blank">www . edencomputers . co . nz) of whats down the road .

This includes PCMCIA, USB 2 and PCI wireless .

The USB 2 adapters, I got in Mt Eden Rd, were about $37 each inc GST .
(NOT from the above shop tho) .

407357 2005-11-25 21:42:00 I would go for the USB adaptor, but the desktop PC doesn't have USB 2.0. Herbie_Dog (9286)
407358 2005-11-25 21:54:00 I would go for the USB adaptor, but the desktop PC doesn't have USB 2 . 0 .

Thats a good reason . Just get a USB 2 PCI card . Altho, it maybe better having front USB ports, on the case . You may get a better signal .

Altho some (or all) USB 2 adapters come with an extension cable anyway .
