2005-11-27 19:36:00 | I am running Windows XP and have Office 2003. In Word, when I print a multiple page document, it always prints from last to first. I have been into the print options and checked the Front to Back box but to no effect. What is the fix? | SimonF (9319) | |

2005-11-27 20:03:00 | Thanks for that. I have been in and checked that but it is set up the same with the Front to Back print order box checked. I seem to recall that there was a fault/bug in the previous version of Word and that there was a fix for it but the mists of time or similar have taken or hidden this information from my mind. | SimonF (9319) | |

I just set the printer to reverse and the Word option is left unchecked (as my laser automatically prints them face-down which reverses the order but the inkjet does not) |

2005-11-29 02:30:00 | The first thing you should try is reversing your printer then printing. The printer is independent of Word and is configured by your Printer settings of Control Panel. Speaking of which, you should also go there and check print order settings for your printer. There is no use checking the options in Word, it does not control your printer settings. | Albert (482) | |
2005-11-29 02:52:00 | . . . There is no use checking the options in Word, it does not control your printer settings . That's true, but . . . The "printer" gets a sequence of pages in a job . It prints them . It has an option to print them in reversed order . An application which wants to print sends a sequence of pages to the printer, as one job . It might be able to send them in reverse order, according to its settings . The printer doesn't know what the page numbers are . It doesn't care . It will print the pages in the order received, or not, depending on its setting . Of course, the word "printer" here means the "printer software" -- the "driver" . The hardware printer will just print pages in the order it receives them (unless it's a very expensive and clever one) . If it delivers the sheets upside down, it effectively reverses the page order, though it still prints them in the order received . . :D
