| 407947 | 2005-11-26 20:55:00 | I recently got an MP3 player that requires a port USB1.1 or above. When I installed the driver (I run Win98SndEdn) for it and my computer recognized the new hardware, I got several blue screens and my computer crashed. Why might this be, and how do I know if I have USB 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0? |

Look in device manager, under Universal serial bus controllers, for something like Intel (R) 82801EB USB2 Enhanced Host controller. If this shows under USB controllers, you should have USB2. |

If this shows under USB controllers, you should have USB2. Note some motherboards require you enable USB2 first or they will show only as 1.1. Had to do it on mine via BIOS. |

| 407951 | 2005-11-27 03:22:00 | Mine says Intel 82801AA USB Universal Host Controller. Which version does that indicate and, if I need to go into BIOS, what do I do there? | Sakami (9316) | ||
| 407952 | 2005-11-30 05:11:00 | Another way to tell whether you have USB 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 or whatever is to go to System Information and on the left bar click on Components which divides into sub-categories. Then click USB and on the left under device it should say what USB port you have. | Albert (482) | ||
