407903 2005-11-26 05:51:00 Hi,
I am reasonable competent with Windows but wish to become a MS free zone.

Am currently running Win 2K pro and Office 2K, (all other apps are non MS).

I would like to install a version of Linux and open office .org to be COMPLETLY MS free but do not have any Linux expertees.

Which would be the best version of Linux to install (bootable) and cut my teeth on ?

I have a P4-253 with 1 gig ram and 2x 80 gig hdd's. with plenty of space on them and a cd-rw.

TIA
Phil

407905 2005-11-26 07:12:00 I say the best thing to do is too hold off for now and use bootable DVD's to try out the different distro's- You can get these at DSE.
2 distros for $8- installation CD's and everything

407912 2005-11-26 08:02:00 Knoppix runs straight off the CD so theres no need to worry about formatiing the HDD. Just dont try to write to a NTFS partition using Linux :angry bob_doe_nz (92)
