| 408122 | 2005-11-28 01:43:00 | Manual says 2Mb ROM and 1 Mb of RAM so no wonder it is having melt down printing graphics under XP! Upgradeable to a massive 9Mb! (70ns or faster , 5V JEIDA card) - meaning??? Test page says 1 Mb currently installed. Funny how the "get it fixed" plan changes - best option now seems to be work with I already have & try & improve it. I was rather keen on having at least a printer/fax combo (scanner not that big a deal). |

| 408123 | 2005-11-28 03:00:00 | A lot of the LaserJets take standard 72 pin SIMMs. The last one I got ($5 for 2) was a 6M, with 2MB on board, plus a factory installed 4MB (because Postscript needs more memory than 2MB). I added 2 more 8MB SIMMs, which I had had in a LJ4. They were just pulled from PCs. | Graham L (2) | ||
| 408124 | 2005-11-28 07:57:00 | Does the 5L take the older EDO memory? I got 8 x IBM 8MB 70ns EDO ram which fits my 5p laserjet No the 5L doesn't use EDO RAM nor the 72 pin SIMMS mentioned by Graham L (but yes some ex-PC EDO RAM can be used to boost the memory on the 4 & 5 range of HP laser printers - but not the 5L). I thought the 5L came with 2MB standard - oh well. The part you are looking for looks like this (www.clasificados.universia.com.ar) (sorry for the small pic but I can't find an example on Google, the part number usually starts with KTH5L__ and is often a Kingston compatible brand) and where it plugs in is secret! Not. Between the 2 feet on one of the sides (I forget which) the panel between the feet pulls out from the bottom and the memory card (not a SIMM) is inserted in there. A P.S. A little more info here (www.kingston.com) |
