408776 2005-11-30 02:56:00 Just received my dec/jan pc mag. The cd is now a dvd. As I only have a cd writer I am wondering if this will be the norm from now on. gradebdan (2186)
408777 2005-11-30 03:11:00 might just be a christmas thing but if not complain if lots of people dont have dvd drives they will change it back sambaird (47)
408778 2005-11-30 03:18:00 We will be doing DVDs with 3 issues as a trial. Chances are we'd continue with it it, as almost all the Oz mags have now switched to cover DVDs too and DVD drive penetration is such that it make sense. I know some folks will still be on CD but the bulk of users (according to reader surveys) have now moved to DVD drives. Biggles (121)
408779 2005-11-30 03:22:00 I'd like to my protest against the change from CD to the PC World DVD.
I dont have a DVD reader in my computer. So now I'm considering whether to
renew my subscription, if a major part of why I buy the PC World is cut off from me. I Hope it goes back to CD, as 7 times nothing equals nothing for me, and I suspect many others.

408780 2005-11-30 03:34:00 Hey Brucie, how about giving the readers who do not have a DVD drive, an email address where they can request specific programs from the DVD onto a CD which is snail mailed to them  bob_doe_nz (92)
408781 2005-11-30 03:43:00 I've been looking for an excuse to buy a DVD reader/writer, so the big decision to make is which is it better to keep, a 52x CD drive or a 52x32x52x CD writer? I only have 4 bays, all in use. Terry Porritt (14)
408782 2005-11-30 03:57:00 But.....everyone can read a CD, Only people that own DVD drives can read a DVD. Why do it even if it only cut out 5 percent of your market?, let along cutting out 60 percent or more.

Is there not enough room on a CD for the average amount of data that you want to supply?, or is it just so you can have a big flashy "FREE DVD" banner on the cover?

To be honest when I buy overseas mags I usually just ditch the cover discs, A UK mag I purchased had 3 or 4 FREE DVD"s, they all went in the bin, followed shortly after by the magazine.

408783 2005-11-30 03:57:00 PC User - Aus - gives both a CD & DVD. I do not have a DVD in the computer, and have no desire to fit one. If I want to watch movies, I use the TV.
So thumbs down on this one.

408784 2005-11-30 04:40:00 DVD because stuff is getting bigger and it holds more.
On the other hand I never keep cover disks.
Atomic ditched the idea - you can download stuff off the website if you want it.

408785 2005-11-30 04:52:00 Get with the times and stop bitching, considering DVD writers are somewhat cheaper than cd writers. id much prefer a dvd than a cd. infact, i cant actually remember the last time i burnt a cd, i only ever use DVD-Rs, they are cheaper than CDRs too! Tux (606)
