| 409045 | 2005-11-29 08:24:00 | everytime i try to logon to windows xp, at the welcome screen i get errors sayin applications cannot be started as Ux theme.dll cannot be found. i cannot even restore mi pc. how do i fix this problem. i was using one of those XP theme mangers (Windows Blinds 4.5 trial and ThemeXP) just so i could have a windows vista wanna be computer. Otherwise how are they going to access 'run'? Not hassling you, just wondering how you get to *run* if you can't get past the log on screen. | supergran (108) | ||
| 409049 | 2005-12-05 03:06:00 | The Ux theme . dll is a modified theme . Boot into safe mode: hit F8 during startup, go to Start/Control Panel/Display (or right click the desktop/properties) . Choose Themes tab and in the combo box list choose WindowsXP . This should reset the theme to standard . Windows should start normally . You could also uninstall the theme modifacation software, although I know ux can be installed by copying the dll to your system . If this is the case you will need to do some registry hacking to get rid it completly, be careful! You should also consider a rebuild of Windows, either a repair install or complete . I rebuild my three pc's at least every six months . I find they perform much better with a fresh rebuild . Consult your PC documentation and back up your My Documents, Photos, Email addresses and email, at the very least before attempting any maintenance . Hope this helps . Buzzebee |
