2005-11-28 23:29:00 | Hi I recently installed a new motherboard and when I turn the PC on it boots up for a few seconds and a error message appears "CMOS checksum error" and then all of a sudden it turns off. I am a bit of a novice so was wondering if any of you have any ideas what the problem is. Any help would be really appreciated. :D Thanks Lee

2005-11-29 00:12:00 | Thanks for your replies guys. I have already tried replacing the battery and that doesn't seem to make any difference. Also it doesn't give me enough time to get into the BIOS as it shuts down too quick. Not sure what you mean by flashing the BIOS to my knowledge I havent anyway. The motherboard is ABIT - V4DP With a 2200 AMD processor Any other ideas !!!?? :waughh:

2005-11-29 01:06:00 | if none of the above works, your bios is most likely hammered, return the board for a replacement | bartsdadhomer (80) | |
2005-11-29 23:45:00 | Yeah, tried everything now . I think the only thing can be the BIOS must be buggered as suggested as it just keeps shutting down after it gives the CMOS checksum message . Argh!! :badpc: I will send it back

The CPU fan is spinning, and the CPU fan is connected to the right connection on the mobo isnt it? And if the mobo has an 4 pin ATX connection, is the conection from the power supply connected to it? |
