| 408342 | 2005-11-28 07:42:00 | Hi Everyone, My parents want me to transfer all my baby videos ( :yuck: ), i only have a tv capture card (will that work?) - also the system with the tuner and DVD burner runs Gentoo Linux (my desktop). If its too hard i can move the hardware into my parents machine which has windows xp |

It's more than likely that drivers etc. and whatever software came with the card will not run on Linux. As long as your tuner has RCA or S-Video input, and is able to capture from that, then you will be able to use that. Then it's a matter of simply plugging your VCR into that, and away you go. There may be a way to connect your VCR's aerial out connection to your TV tuner, and the "tune" into the VCR's channel and record using that. I've never done this myself, so I don't know if it will work - it's worth a shot anyway. |

| 408344 | 2005-11-28 07:59:00 | I got most of that part - i was looking for software etc. - and yes i think it might be logical to move the stuff to my parents computer (or ill just install windows on my spare hdd in my machine. | Dannz (1668) | ||
| 408345 | 2005-11-28 08:00:00 | If the tuner is a leadtek (and it came with software), install the software for it . Then u can switch to CVBS or S-video, depending on which connection you plug the VCR video out to . It'll record it in Mpeg 2 (and other options), to the hdd, then all u have to do, is run Nerovision / Nero, (or other DVD software), and burn it to cd / dvd . |
