409067 2005-11-30 18:51:00 I'm one of those people who wait and wait until I buy - e.g. I don't even have a normal DVD player. (basically due to cost reasons, nothing else) Just recently (12 months ago) bought a CD writer. So telling me I have to buy a DVD-drive to read PC World's DVD is telling me to stop buying the mag - a mag that I love.

409068 2005-11-30 18:58:00 Cuz , You might as well get a DVD Writer while you at it , coz net comes HOLOGRAPHIC DISC technology. once thats in , CD-Roms are out the window , every other ROM can read CD's , so whats the use for a CD-ROM, keep with the times or get left behind. Mike_SA (8956)

409073 2005-12-01 08:38:00 I think that burners are going to take longer & longer to come out for new optical media as it becomes more complex. Greven (91)

Nonsense. I buy the mag. I never use the bundled disk.

409075 2005-12-01 21:27:00 Correct me if I'm wrong, but everything on the PC World disk is on the internet anyway so you can just download it if you don't have a DVD drive. Even if you aren't on broadband, most things can be downloaded over a few nights.

Anyway, I've had a DVD burner in my iMac G4 (24x/8x/4x/6x/2x/1x CD-RW/DVD-RW) since the beginning of 2002, a combo drive (24x/24x/10x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM) in my PowerBook G4 since late 2003 and will soon have an 8 x dual layer DVD burner (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) when I get a new iMac G5 later this year. :)

409076 2005-12-01 22:24:00 I have a spare Pioneer DVR 107 (www.pioneerelectronics.com) (not free) if anyone is interested.

Other than that, have a nice NEC 3520 burner and a Pioneer DVD-ROM.
