408597 2005-11-29 08:01:00 Thanks, but when I did as you suggested, the whole spreadsheet (with heaps of columns of statistics) was sent along with the chart. Using the print screen key with the chart itself selected and then opening it in 'Paint Shop Pro', saving it as jpg, worked perfectly.

I wonder how the chart can be sent as an attachment in an email?

Right click the chart > location then as new sheet or as object in ...select a new sheet in the same workbook then File send that page only, takes 5 secs

Same deal for an attachment

408598 2005-11-29 08:10:00 I always do it by pasting it as a bitmap into Word (paste special) and send it as a .doc file.

Otherwise it can carry all the workings behind it.

Yes, this alternative worked also. Thanks for your help everyone!

What am I doing wrong? Have tried this and I still have the whole spreadsheet attached with the chart!

408600 2005-11-29 09:52:00 You have to copy - paste the chart in a NEW workbook, then Edit - break links in the new workbook (and accept the warning) to divorce it from the source data, then email the new workbook. godfather (25)

I don't
Using excel 2003 & Outlook I just right click the chart, select location.
Select 'as a chart in a new sheet' (in the same workbook) a new page is created named whatever you choose, 'chart 1' is the default.

Go file - send to - email recipient
A box pops up with choice of 'send current workbook as attachment' or 'send current sheet as the message body'
Selecting 'current sheet as the message body' embeds the chart in the email body and it is sent as a picture, no source data is sent at all

I've just emailed 3 to myself to check and it works perfectly
It's a snap

408602 2005-11-29 11:00:00 Must be Outlook specific, as I use Eudora and that is not an option. godfather (25)

Interesting. This explains why I am having difficulties. I use Office 2000 and Outlook Express.
