| 408903 | 2006-02-27 03:18:00 | Hi all I think supplying a DVD with each issue is a wonderful idea IF CDs are also supplied. We have four computers in the house and the only one with a DVD drive is mine, and the only reason my main computer has one is that I had it taken out of my previous computer (which makes the drive at least six years old). Now, I do not think we are behind in the times. We just do not have a need for more DVD drives. We do have an external harddrive and two 2GB memory sticks for backing up, along with CDs for photos, etc. Having said all this the main reason we pay our subscription is for the magazine. However, I think to be fair all subscribers should be able to access the files on CD. Oxie (Lyn) |

C'mon people, with a DVD ROM costing just $30-$40, I think it is reasonable to buy one if you actually want the content on the PCW Disc . If you don't want it, fine, add to your coaster collection, but to expect PCW to provide a DVD plus multiple CDs on every mag each month just to keep a few luddites happy is asking a bit much . The disc is a free bonus after all, it is not as if you pay extra for it . It's 2006 already . . . . . . so row the boat out and treat yourself to a new disc drive; but HURRY before DVDs become obsolete too . The writing is on the wall already and they are definitely yesterday's technology . Sheesh!!!!!!! . . . . . . . Next thing you know people will be wanting their OS and other programs provided on floppies as well when we move to CDs . :rolleyes: Oh . . . . . . hang on a minute . . . . we did that last century and everybody survived the upgrade . :p Cheers Billy 8-{) |

After all, its the new thing, other people have done it, Never mind that like CD's 99.9 pecent of TV transmission is in the old format which just happens to be suported by every single TV in NZ..... |
