| 408886 | 2005-12-05 07:43:00 | I subscribed to PCW just this month and it would have been nice to be warned that the cover disk was changing to DVD. Felt kinda ripped off when I recieved it. |

I have tried twice using Nero to burn the image to disk. Both attempts have the same result: I boot from the disk, I hit enter to boot to Knoppix, I see the splash screen, ..........., then Tux in the top LH corner of the screen. My PC then totally locks up and has to be reset. My neighbour has had similar problems.I've burnt the ISO to CD and it boots fine. There are a variety of boot cheat codes that you can access at the first prompt. Try booting with boot: knoppix vga=0 It was great to find Knoppix on the DVD as it is such an handy tool to have. :) |

| 408890 | 2005-12-05 09:13:00 | Fascinating! I never knew I would get to learn about the socio-economic regions of NZ on this forum... Aside from the lump of glue on my DVD it worked fine. I ran Knoppix to see what all this Linux stuff was all about and was truly amazed! Neat graphics but it was like getting getting to grips with DOS after living with C64 Basic... What is a CUPS server and where would it hide? Answers on a postage stamp please... |

Note: You subscribed to a magazine. Not a CD. The CD is a free extra. And if you want it on CD you can download everything yourself anyway. |

| 408894 | 2005-12-06 07:28:00 | I have been to Wanganui and it is true. What a dump, nice main shopping centre, but dont think the houses have seen any paint in over 20 yrs. LOL Anyway, CD onwers, upgrade your life, get a DVD drive, you will love that you dont have to load 6 disks when installing Call of Duty 2!...haha Pretty idiotic statement, Wanganui like all places has its good and bad areas, You probally went for a drive out Castlecliff, Where the conditions are harsh due to the beach and most residents don't have a lot of money, Foolish to assume the entire place is like that. |

| 408895 | 2005-12-06 09:11:00 | Most of the coverdisks are coasters after a month. How many coasters does the world need. Make them all RW. CDs or DVDs. That would be an inovation I could apreciate. | i-gordon (962) | ||
