408462 2005-11-28 23:29:00 Hi

I recently installed a new motherboard and when I turn the PC on it boots up for a few seconds and a error message appears "CMOS checksum error" and then all of a sudden it turns off.

I am a bit of a novice so was wondering if any of you have any ideas what the problem is. Any help would be really appreciated. :D

Thanks
Lee

408463 2005-11-28 23:40:00 Can you get into the BIOS, and reset it to the default settings?

You didnt flash the BIOS recently did you??

Whats the brand / model of the motherboard?

408464 2005-11-28 23:44:00 chuck a new battery in theyr'e about the size of a 10c piece you'll see it clearly on the mobo....i've installed new motherboards and then a month or so later had to replace the battery sometimes the batterys are not so new i think......$4 at the warehouse you need a cr 2032 drcspy (146)
408465 2005-11-29 00:12:00 Thanks for your replies guys. I have already tried replacing the battery and that doesn't seem to make any difference.

Also it doesn't give me enough time to get into the BIOS as it shuts down too quick.

Not sure what you mean by flashing the BIOS to my knowledge I havent anyway.

The motherboard is
ABIT - V4DP

With a 2200 AMD processor

Any other ideas !!!?? :waughh:

408466 2005-11-29 00:34:00 Unplug everything from the board except RAM, CPU and PSU, reboot while tapping the Delete key, keep trying. Rob99 (151)

408468 2005-11-29 01:06:00 if none of the above works, your bios is most likely hammered, return the board for a replacement bartsdadhomer (80)
408469 2005-11-29 23:45:00 Yeah, tried everything now . I think the only thing can be the BIOS must be buggered as suggested as it just keeps shutting down after it gives the CMOS checksum message . Argh!! :badpc:

I will send it back

408470 2005-11-30 17:31:00 Tried everything including trying to get into the BIOS but it shuts down before I get chance to do any thing.

Not sure why it keeps shutting down. Any ideas anyone!!

408471 2005-11-30 19:15:00 I thought u were taking it back.

Sounds like its overheating or something, if you cant even get into the BIOS. And shutting itself down, before it does any damage.

The CPU fan is spinning, and the CPU fan is connected to the right connection on the mobo isnt it? And if the mobo has an 4 pin ATX connection, is the conection from the power supply connected to it?
