409599 2005-12-03 01:42:00 I am getting broadband, i have international calls with telecom and national calls with telstra and with this set-up i am getting the best value for my calls.
A lot of ISPs seem to be w*nkers about this (add $10 if you dont have their tolls). I found one company www.wxc.co.nz that has good plans but is the quality of service crap? A friend of mine got slingshot and said it was appaling - worse than dial-up. Anyone keen to share their experiences with their ISPs?
Probably looking for 3Gb+ cap and 1MBit.
Any help would be appreciated.

409600 2005-12-03 02:29:00 I'm currently with Ihug - 10GB offpeak, 10GB peak data, 2mbit speed, $49.95/month with tolls. Service has been good, speed has been good, and the conneciton has been reliable. I've been able to download from fast servers at fairly close to 2mbit/s - around 1.8mbit/s on average.

For me, I don't particulary mind having tolls through them because we barely make national or international phone calls. Though, the one call we did make, it was at a very good price - compared with the prices we used to pay with Telecom.

I would suggest you check out these internet+tolls providers, and see if you can get better value for money for toll calls through them - you never know.

409601 2005-12-03 03:34:00 well i am a student so the more money i save the better. My parents call nationally a lot on telstras yak pak ($20 for 300 national mins) works out about 7 cents a min, ihug is 16 cents a minute, i have a sister in london i call sometimes for 18cents a minute, ihug is 25c. Anyway what i really wanted to ask about was the experience people have had with world exchange, as small companies quality is usually dodgy.

Companies who add on $10 (no this is not a discount just a punishment):
Ihug
Telecom
telstra clear
actrix
orcon
and many more.

Is telstras internet anygood?

It would appear that you are asking not only about an ISP but also about phone access.

I use Orcon for my ISP and this costs $49.95 uncapped per month.

I use telecom for my land line at ~40.00 per month.

I use telstra for toll calls..

You do what you want.

409607 2005-12-07 00:50:00 Thanks for the help, now i just have to wait for those lazy telecom [edit] to conect my line. WxC provided me with dialup while i am waiting :d. I am getting a D-Link DSL-G604T router(think thats the code).

409608 2005-12-07 00:59:00 I was quite lucky with my connect time - less than five working days, though I didn't get the letter for a couple of days. A friend I referred to them took a little longer, but still within their stated 2 weeks (10 working days) - his only problem was the DSE modem (XH1172) was setup for Taiwan instead of New Zealand, and wouldn't connect. WxC made the appropriate enquiries to DSE on his behalf, and sorted out all the problems. Pretty good service for one of the smaller ISPs, I reckon... Lizard (2409)
