409113 2005-11-30 22:47:00 I've just remembered why I don't like DVD'S.

Yesterday I installed the PCW dvd. I loaded King Kong but could,t get it to run. I uninstalled it.
After getting a bit of advice I decided to have another try. I put the disk in the drive and the menu popped up immediately. But KK and all the other three games refuse to install. My red light stays on. The CD light continues to flicker. But nothing happens.

Tried installing directly from the file. Same result.

Tried installing some of the other programs. Perfect. No problems at all. But the games won't do a thing.

Guess where the DVD's heading for.

409114 2005-11-30 22:50:00 Have you tried cleaning the surface of the DVD with a wire brush?, or failing that pour soapy water into your DVD Drive, 1 or 2 litres should clear it up. Metla (12)
409115 2005-11-30 23:04:00 That may be the fault of the file. Not the media its on. pctek (84)

Yeh, I scrubbed the CD with sandsoap and got the wire brush into the driveAnd gave it a good scrub.

Hasn't helped any though. None of my CD's work now.

What shall I try next :help:

Jack, have you tried copying he file from the disc to hard drive - that will at least establish whether there is a media fault.

Also, are you using IE and clicking on the link from the web page on the disc? cause IE takes forever to pop up a result if you click on a large file.

Yes I dragged KK to desktop and it installed from there no problem.
Only trouble game will not respond to controls. He just stands in middle and the room spins around.

I tried the same with FEAR and it seems to be working properly. Great graphics too.
