409104 2005-11-30 22:26:00 Hey all,
first thread, ive got a nvidia Geforce 4 MX 420 and recently bought the new Civilizationg game for my pc. This card meets the requirements but when i try to start playing the game, my pc shuts off and i get a blue STOP error screen. The error reads "A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. The faulty driver currently on the kernal stack must be replaced with a working version." The code at the bottom is: 0x000000c4 (0x00000060, 0x00000024, 0x00000000, 0x00000001) Any help with this problem would be extremely appreciated, Thanks.

409105 2005-11-30 22:32:00 What version of the nvidia drivers are installed?

Did u install the drivers from the Nvidia site, not windowsupdate?

Uninstall the nvidia drivers, delete its folder, then download the latest nvidia drivers from the nvidia site. Then reboot, reinstall the drivers, then reboot again.

What version of windows is installed?

409111 2005-12-05 04:53:00 Microsoft's gift to computer users, The BSOD (blue Screen Of Death) .

The error code has told you a driver has caused a problem . To correctly find the pesky device causing the problem you need to roll you sleeves up and do some trouble shooting . Because windows is so vague about which device, you should remove all removable devices, such as sound card, USB card, Modem and Video card if on-board graphics are available . Reboot the machine and see if the BSOD occurs again . Reinstall the devices one at a time, testing each time in the same way, running the game . The device that causes the BSOD is obvoiusly the culprit .

You may find the BSOD occurs after removing the hardware . This will tell you the problem is not those components . This is good you know they are OK .

At this point you can continue to fault find the system but it will be more difficult . An easier way to fix this is a repair install, or, if necessary a complete rebuild . I rebuild every six months just to keep my machines in good shape . Windows, for me, gets slower and slower over time . Remember to back up all your data before a rebuild .

409112 2005-12-23 17:49:00 for the game civilization if you are getting a BSOD, the first which you need to ensure is that your motherboard is either of very high speed or has hyperthreading and the RAM also should be optimized to 1024. The reason being when you play a game of high graphical display on a Pc it uses up a lot of resources hence the load on the processor is extreme and the when the game itself requests the processor to execute a command it would not be able to do so you may get a blue screen...try this...if you use your pc for gaming then ensure you have good speed and performance to support the game..if you have mother board of low speed and low memory yu will face problems D-man Spike (9339)
