i have a intel Katmai petium III 450 mhz and i was tryin to get as much speed out of it as possible. can it safely be overclocked? i am running windows XP and i got 490 megs of ram. i also have a petium III coppermine 752mhz socket 300 (i think) can i swap the the chips? the 450mhz has a big black encasing (heatsink) and it is slot A. the coppermine has a fanless silver heatsink. (a lot of spikes sticking straight up.) |

i downloaded a biosagent to see if i could get an update and it says the 450mhz processor has a max speed of 800. can i push it someway up to that or is it too dangerous? (asus p3p-f motherboard) award medallion 10/19/99 440bx (bios id) |

Being a Mac user, I'm not really into overclocking, but I wouldn't bother. With such an old computer I really don't think a slight increase in CPU speed will have much affect on its speed... |

can your bios support overclocking?
google your motherboard to see if it will accept the other cpu |
