410288 2005-12-05 01:49:00 Alright recently i've been trying to read and get some information off some data dvd discs that i've got already burnt from some friends. For some reason my BenQ dual layer 16x dvd burner wont read them and comes up with a cd rom logo instead whilst the disc is in the rom. Please help me fix this. I need the data on these discs. :dogeye: Bigd_2000 (9364)

And what did you use / what program to burn them to the DVD?

410290 2005-12-05 04:00:00 You need to make sure the disk is in fact readable. Check the surface of the disk carefully for marks especially the innermost tracks. If dirty, clean by gently wiping from the center out using a soft cloth like that used to clean reading glasses. Try again to read it. If the dvd drive icon does not change once the disk has initialised it has not recognised the FAT (File Allocation Table) try the disk in another machine just before you place it under your hot cup of coffee, or single malt. I am guessing the disk was not written correctly, or witten using an application you do not have.

There is people around like me that have specialised tools for data recovery, but this is not cheap.
