409737 2005-12-03 07:13:00 it will read cd/dvd no problem write cd's but wont write dvd's , with research on the net i have found out that this driver is hard to find with computers usually installing drivers for the 300n which doesnt install writer for dvd's, there was someone who i found who had gotten the drivers and left them on a website but has long gone (back in 2004, was hoping someone out there would know where i could find the drivers for this dvd writer? have looked on the hp website and it wont send to nz. any help would really appreciate it. thanks lisamarie01 (6731)
409738 2005-12-03 07:37:00 It shouldn't need any drivers
What do you mean by "it won't send to New Zealand?"
There is a firmware update on the HP site and anyone can download it
What OS are you using
If it won't write it's probably knackered

409739 2005-12-03 08:23:00 firstly the wont send to new zealand, i went thru the site put nz as my country what the drivers i needed were and it took me to the next page with a message saying we currently dont dispatch to nz, also it obvously does need drivers or it would work!!!, have read many plea's online of people with the exact same drive as i have that site link is www.totallydrivers.com
and firmware isnt that were you alter the hardware? which is risky in itself ??? have heard of a few people trying this and then having a whole new problem of the drive not working at all lol, could be wrong tho, just need someone to point me in the direction of some drivers for this model dvd writer, thanks

409740 2005-12-03 09:41:00 here is the message i got from the hp website "we're sorry, the part number is not available in New Zealand or Australia. please search again to find the correct CD for your requirements." lisamarie01 (6731)
409741 2005-12-03 09:53:00 Yeah I got the same thing, I searched for over half an hour looking for a driver and came up empty
What I did find though is the DVD Writer is a pile of c**p, the software seems to cause all sorts of problems, even brings XP to it's knees and nothing short of a format will get rid of it properly
There also seems to be a long list of software that it won't co-exist with

Prolly better to dump it and get a new one
Good DVD writers can be bought for $60 - $80 and don't need drivers to work properly

You could try these fellas if you really want it that bad
Will prolly cost though
