410407 2005-12-07 09:35:00 One more thought about this .

Could the reason that I can't ping external websites from my clients be because they go through a proxy server?

This will depend on what type of proxy server you have . Is it a Proxy/Firewall? Your server DNS needs to have the server as primary DNS and your ISP DNS as secondary . Your Server static IP setting also have to have these setup as well .

But from the posts have you joined the PC's to the domain or not? You are required to use the network wizard to join the domain with XP . You just can't change the from workgroup to domain . My experience anyway and I've done a few . But in saying that I haven't tried the other way for a long time as it just didn't work .

Also do a nslookup on the DNS server to see if it responds correctly .

410408 2005-12-09 04:57:00 In the end I gave up and demoted the PDC and repromoted it but then this caused a whole new issue of not even being able to log in so I decided to bite the bullet and format the hdd and start from scratch . I recreated AD, DNS, DHCP, the works and now everything is running perfectly .

Thank you very much for help though as I learned a great deal and your comments definitley pointed me in more than the right direction to deal with any similar problems I may have in the future .

Cheers
