Writing software is easy if you've got the right sort of mind. Writing (significant) software which works reliably and consistently isn't. It never has been. It never will be. That's why commercial software which has to work is expensive. That's why most large software projects collapse under their own weight. That's why the remainder suffer from the "two out of three" syndrome: "You can have it: delivered on schedule, on budget, and working (sort of). Pick any two". That's even without a project "manager" who asks for 4000 changes to the specification before the first version is produced.

Fair call. I would never even dream of embarking on a project like this.

In any case, I've found a shareware program (Fineprint), which works unregistered, except it prints an advertising banner down the bottom of each page. That doesn't concern me much though - so it'll do for now.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

409863 2005-12-04 00:50:00 Surely there is some freeware out there - the software can't be that complex to write - I saw an algorithm on a website last night, and it seemed pretty easy.
Imposition software is very complicated, we at work will only impose simple bookwork for the complicated stuff we send out and I think its done on a program called preps, what was the free mac one called?
Indesign will do it if you can be bothered downloading it.
Even office will do it just set your A4 page to landscape and scale your pages to A5

409865 2005-12-04 01:39:00 Hi,
You could try FinePrint 2000. I have the free version but the paid one has more functions.
