410383 2005-12-05 03:50:00 Heyas... I am wanting to backup my Gentoo install, pref to CD, if not possible; then tarred to another partition from which I can untar.
What apps/scripts are there to do this. I know of one in the Gentoo forums, doesnt work for me (tried it a few times, keep getting the same as the last poster in that thread)
Will Nortons Ghost do what I want (if so which version.. does it work definately with Gentoo?), or any other app for that matter?

I want to be able to muck around with Gentoo, knowing that if I do something that screws it, that I have a backup that will give me full working system in less than 2 days

I don't care about the mbr getting backed up... thats an easy fixer upper - just my main install (/ and /boot .. both seperate partitions)

410386 2005-12-05 19:36:00 Jen: have you tried G4L? Is it any good?

Chilling_Silence: yeah Love suggested Mondo-rescue; but its hard-masked still, and I don't want to screw a newly installed sys with it

410387 2005-12-05 21:08:00 3/4 of all apps I emerge are masked in some form or another

Mondo/Mindi are fine. Read why they're masked packages and Im sure you'll emerge it... its too good to miss :)
