| 410261 | 2005-12-04 23:48:00 | Kde version of ubuntu Althrough services are marked to to start on bootup they are not running. Sudo is of concern here as I have to drop out to bash shell to do any system admin (as su) but I can also use kdesu kcontrol in the run applet. The services applet within Kcontrol says start on bootup but not running, I try restart the service but just invloves drinking a lot of coffee and a long wait end result service doesnt restart. I confirmed sudo service not running by (bash as su-) #ps aux | grep "sudo" 1 result was returned that being the ps aux grep process Any ideas on how to resolve this, Ive tried the kubuntu forum but as of yet no complete answer they provided the kdesu workround |

| 410262 | 2005-12-05 04:13:00 | What version of Kubuntu are you running? Breezy or Hoary? I believe Kubuntu Breezy (v5.10) resolved the incompatibility of KDE and sudo. |

| 410263 | 2005-12-05 06:17:00 | Breezy 5.10 had the same problem with Gnome version but more services were effected hence the change this is looking like a visit to bugzilla this is only happening on a expert install on a dual boot laptop (compaq persaro 700). The default install in VMware works perfectly on the desktop.. 2.8 512meg ram. So I may have clash somewhere. No errors on the expert install were reported it was an easy install |
