1382317 2014-08-22 21:26:00 Good grief, if this sort of thing (www.nzherald.co.nz) isn't nipped in the bud, 17 year-olds all over the country will be denied their right to dictate company policy in their second month of employment. The Treaty wallahs and other protectors of our rights should be starting riots before the rot sets right in.

Amazing isn't it when both side of the story come out. "Kia Ora welcome to KiwiYo" would have been fine according to the Manager. The staff member appears to want to control the businesses.

Still think Kia Ora is a nice greeting though.

1382322 2014-08-22 23:43:00 It is the employer's right to tell the employee how they want the employee to act while in the company's employ, otherwise they can go and get another job.

In this case they were given a script and were expected to stick to it. If Kia Ora is not in the script then you can't say it. Can't see where the problem is with that.

1382326 2014-08-23 03:22:00 ...all New Zealanders under 30 were now embracing the language...

Now there's a Tui billboard if ever I have seen one.

If you're going to make claims like this, back it up with facts please. This is nothing more than some journalist's opinion without a verifiable source...
