1382055 2014-08-18 22:10:00 Can anyone recommend a web based text messaging service where I can send the occasional text to a NZ mobile via my laptop. Preferably free but I don't mind paying as long it is reliable.

Thanks

If you are using an Android phone, you can use an app called AirDroid to send / receive text messages from your laptop.

1382058 2014-09-08 14:55:00 Hmm. Their are lots of web-based apps that can let you send free sms but some are specialized for few countries. In past, I just made a query and found a list of 10 websites on a blog. I would like to share that list with you...
Here is the list.www.techwebworld.com

Hi, Renmoo:) I have been curious about this web text messaging for free until I saw this thread. I am using an Android Phone and you have mentioned that there is an application called AirDroid by which we can send and received messages from a laptop. Am I correct? I also heard about it already and I hope it is reliable. However, this is great! I really appreciate what you have shared here.

It's bloody great and yes it is free. I have been using it for quite some time now (a year+) and yes it is reliable.
