| 1382010 | 2014-08-18 21:28:00 | It'll be windows 8 with a few tweaks and some new features if we're lucky and people will carry on as if it's what windows 8 should have been from the start when in truth it'll be essentially the same OS with a new look easily achieved on 8 - just my cynical prediction. I'm actually pretty happy with 8 these days and am not going to rush into 9 unless there is a really cheap offer the way there was when 8 came out, but for all those that hate windows 8 maybe the cosmetic changes will be enough for you. |

Just as Win7 was really just a tweaking of Vista I'm inclined to agree - Windows 9 is likely to be a better version of Windows 8, ie tweaked to reduce the learning curve. Calling is Windows 8 Update 2 is likely to get a reaction like 'MS is fixing the problems of Win 8', whereas naming it Win 9 may attract comments more like 'MS is trying to move on from Windows 8, listening to customers to create a much better OS'. Pure speculation on my part, but I imagine that's why they'd call it Win 9. Will likely mean it'll be pretty cheap to upgrade from 7 and older, and free for Windows 8.1. |
