1382010 2014-08-18 21:28:00 It'll be windows 8 with a few tweaks and some new features if we're lucky and people will carry on as if it's what windows 8 should have been from the start when in truth it'll be essentially the same OS with a new look easily achieved on 8 - just my cynical prediction.
I'm actually pretty happy with 8 these days and am not going to rush into 9 unless there is a really cheap offer the way there was when 8 came out, but for all those that hate windows 8 maybe the cosmetic changes will be enough for you.

Probably true, more a rebranding exercise ?
Just as Win7 was really just a tweaking of Vista

I'm inclined to agree - Windows 9 is likely to be a better version of Windows 8, ie tweaked to reduce the learning curve.

Calling is Windows 8 Update 2 is likely to get a reaction like 'MS is fixing the problems of Win 8', whereas naming it Win 9 may attract comments more like 'MS is trying to move on from Windows 8, listening to customers to create a much better OS'.

Pure speculation on my part, but I imagine that's why they'd call it Win 9. Will likely mean it'll be pretty cheap to upgrade from 7 and older, and free for Windows 8.1.

Which of course is what one would expect.

They all descend from Windows 2000, which in turn was an implementation of NT technology
and that was a clone of DEC Mica

1382016 2014-08-19 10:32:00 All versions of Windoze were begat by DOS, which came from QDOS (Quick & Dirty Operating System) which was conceived as a testing OS. Originally, it was to test hardware, it's descendants such as WinME, Vista, (a most Vistacious effort) and W8 were conceived to test the gullibility of the public., so far they appear to have not discovered the limit. :waughh: :badpc: R2x1 (4628)
