If its truely bad ,not just pup's, suggest they get their online banking password changed (if they have one), better safe than sorry I assume you left NOD32 on it ? Anyway, always temporarily disable any AV when running malware scanners . Also , when you thinks its clean, do another malwarebytes & Nod32 scan, but set it to scan all files, not just the default scan. 1st thing is to go into control panel , and uninstall all the bogus programs & IE toolbars & addons etc. Empty the recycle bin. I am just doing this as a favour for a friend, and will see ,if after running all the scans as mentioned and they find more stuff, or if the registry is corrupted, I will tell him to take it to someone in town to do a clean install. I would have a go at it myself at home, but too awkward for me at the moment being on crutches and not very mobile. Will do my best using TV. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Cheers LL |
