| 410806 | 2005-12-06 23:52:00 | I wish to install Macromedia Flash on a computer running Win 95B. I understand that v. 5.0 is the latest one that is compatible with Win 95. I have searched extensively for a download for v. 5 but although I have found a number of sites that purportedly provide one they all give links to the current version download page of the Macromedia site. I have searched that site but cannot find v. 5 there. Does anyone know where I can get v. 5? TIA |

| 410808 | 2005-12-07 08:06:00 | Thanks drspy. The download file has no extension so I don't know whether it is an executable file or what. Busy now, will check it out later. | Robin S_ (86) | ||
| 410809 | 2005-12-07 09:39:00 | Drcspy (sorry for the misspelling last post) - I haven't had any luck with that link so far. The first download gave 200-odd KB file called Flash Player with no extension, as mentioned above. I cannot run or open the file. I did a second download and got a 150KB file called flash player.exe. I wondered if it was a compressed self extracting file but Windows says it is corrupt and can't be run. Any other suggestions, anyone? In the meantime, I'll try a few more downloads and see if I get a working one. |

| 410812 | 2005-12-07 10:16:00 | Speedy - as far as I know it is Flash Player. Some web pages require "Macromedia Flash" before they can be opened. I am not familiar with Flash plugin and Shockwave flash. Further to the above download problems, I have done 2 more downloads - the 1st came out at 366KB and the 2nd at 368. Both files have no extension. I have searched thinkcycle.org for the filename given in the link but drew a blank. I searched Google and Vivisimo for the filename but no joy. The URL that shows in the address box when the link is loading is different from the link address in the post. The address that shows in the status bar as the download is beginning is different again and overflows the box so I can't read it all. The address is extremely long and maybe there is browser truncation. Drcspy, could you please send the URL as text - that may be worth a try? |
