with dual channel memory, is it just the motherboard that has to support the feature, or will i have to go out and buy special ram for it to work? |

You don't need dual channel ram, Dual channel ram is simply 2 sticks (the same) packaged together, If you buy 2 exactly the same sticks they will run in dual channel mode on a dual channel board.
And sometimes if your lucky 2 sticks from different sources/brands will run together in dual channel, though this is the expection, not the rule,and by a large margin. |
