410669 2005-12-06 13:16:00 I currently have Google at the bottom of every page as my site search. But I would like to have one that stays in my own site & have is positioned at the top right of my site which I think most surfers are acustomed to.
I guess what I'm saying is I need another search engine.
Any recommendations?

410672 2005-12-06 14:51:00 well I would be happy with that but I have noticed that the Google search comes up with a lot of dead urls. In have renamed a lot of pages but Google has not picked up on that. Ron Bakker (356)
410673 2005-12-06 17:13:00 Nice site!

Just a thought, in the google search code can you delete out the option button for www?

What you need to do is create an xml sitemap.

Download this program

www.vigos.com

Create an xml sitemap of your site for google, then join

www.google.com

and upload your sitemap to googles server.

You can edit your sitemap (I did it in html kit) to delete our entries you don't want listed as well.

You can do this as often as you like, and it gives a thorough listing of your content for google.

I also did it for my message board and deleted out all but view thread from my xml sitemapt for my board. I found the hits on my php pages increased dramatically and that they were hitting the right places, the "viewthread" pages rather than "reply" etc

Good luck

410674 2005-12-06 17:43:00 I will look in to it. One of those things I have to get my head around. I was reading a bit about site maps in relation to google last night. I am using Dreaweaver MX & I thought it might have a search type function. Ron Bakker (356)

It will take Google & the rest of the search engines bot a good couple of months before they pick up those changes.

Some search engines won’t take as long & some do.

A another way to help speed up the time it tacks Google etc… to find the new pages is use 301 redirect see: www.tamingthebeast.net For more information on this.

Hope this helps :)

410676 2005-12-06 22:30:00 Hi Ron,

I just tried to download one of your videos (the one where you dive down to 20mtrs) and i crashed my browser.
Also, not sure if you have any photos loaded up yet but none came up?.
I'm using Firefox by the way.
Something you may need to look at?.

Cheers Brian.

I'm looking at my own site without any trouble including the videos. Maybe I have somting that does not agree with Firefox?
