410485 2005-12-05 23:49:00 I have recently installed ubuntu 5 . 10 but im unable to update .

I am able to browse the web using firefox (I had to disable ipv6) but the 'apt -get' command fails . I am absolutely certain the repositories are correct . I have a broadband connection through a D-Link DSL-G604T router .

Can anyone help! Did anyone have a similar problem at the recent installfest?

Below is a copy of the errors i receive, etc/network/interfaces and etc/apt/sources scripts .

regards

Dele

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

410486 2005-12-06 00:20:00 The last few lines indicate that the access to the updates is "restricted" . According to the error mesages, you " . . . Could not connect to security . ubuntu . com:80 (1 . 0 . 0 . 0), connection timed out" . That looks as if it's supposed to be the way to get permission to access the restricted stuff .

I suspect that the (1 . 0 . 0 . 0) is the IP address you were using to reach that site . I doubt very much that that is an IP address owned by the ubunto . com domain . ;)

the 5.10 section, source file does differ a little from yours

READ the bit under the 5.10 section as it mentions the gpg error thingie
