410510 2005-12-06 21:33:00 Viewsonic VX924. Top of the bunch. Well worth paying a bit more for quality.I don't have a single ccomplaint.
And I can usualy find something to complain about.

I am also in the market for a 19"LCD and while I have read good things about the Viewsonic VX924 that you refer to, there is also an excellent review in "Tom's Hardware Guide" which strongly recommends the Viewsonic 19" VP930B

I would be interested if anyone has any personal experience with the VP930B which is a little more expensive but still in the same price bracket in NZ :2cents:

Specs seem to be the same for both of them. The VP930B looks like it's just got a narrower border and a different base.

I really couldn't comment since I haven't got any personal experience with either monitor .
But reading the report completely it sounds like quite an improvement on the VX24.

410513 2005-12-07 02:02:00 The VP930B gives a lot better color quality than the VX924. The VX924 is only a 6-bit display, where VP930B is 8-bit (meaning it displays more colors).

According to Tomshardware, the older VP912B (think that is the right numbers) is actually better in terms of response time.

Actually I believe that the model that the VP930 replaced was called VP191b but I understood from the article in Tomshardware that the response time was the same for the two models i.e. 8ms.

What I was really trying to find out in my post was if anybody had any real world experience with the two monitors ...specifically whether either Viewsonic was worth the premium price in NZ and finally if the VP930 was worth the extra expense on top of that?

410515 2005-12-07 05:35:00 The BENQ FP937S+ does it for me, no ghosting here (playing games etc).
Supposedly it is 8-bit colour, reds in particular still look a bit odd compared to a CRT. Make sure you get DVI of course, some cheap makers still don't provide the cable...

Viewing angle isn't an issue on mine, of course you can have people peering over your shoulder. The 1280 by 1024 native resolution works well at 19'' (you don't end up with insanely small fonts, for example).

No dead pixels have been seen on mine.

Pretty much, it looks as though 19'' is becoming the standard.

Just don't believe manufacturer specs..

Eh? I thought VP930 had only just come out. It has a higher contrast ratio as well.

According to this graph: graphics.tomshardware.com

I think the VP191 actually is slightly better. The VP930 has a big spike in the middle, but I guess in real world terms, it would not be at all noticable.

410517 2005-12-07 06:52:00 I have used a VX924 on my machine. I have played Counterstrike Source on it, driving games and run my machine. It is the 1st LCD that I would consider having for myself. It was that good. Sam I Am (1679)
410518 2005-12-07 09:25:00 Thanks for all the comments, but at this stage I'm sticking with the Viewsonic VX924 due to the slightler cheaper price and availability over the other Viewsonic monitors. JMoore (9352)
410519 2005-12-07 20:20:00 Another vote for Viewsonic. I bought the 19" VX912 a few months ago and couldn't be happier. The 924 has very good reviews but was overkill for me. Winston001 (3612)
